Work and how it should be 6:37 PM

The first senior managers' meeting of the year this afternoon lasted 2 and a 1/2 hours.

In a way, I was glad that I was finally in the company of those who actually cared about their jobs. Talking about strategic goals and objectives for the year actually feels like proper work again, which is how it should be. Though I came out of the meeting room with a new long list of initiatives to look at, I'm still highly charged and not complaining. I'm not being an elitist here, but mixing with the right kinda people even at the workplace is so important. Choosing your associates will separate those who really contribute to the organisation and other who just bring the entire firm's level of professionalism down.

In addition, I feel that being too casual about the languages spoken at the workplace (Singlish, Hokkien, Cantonese, broken Mandarin, German etc) really doesn't contribute to a conducive atmosphere which promotes productivity or a team-oriented dynamic workforce. It forms cliques, and may sometimes come across as being crass.

I have a lot of work to do, better go work on them while my motivation level is still high.
